The Master of Jurisprudence (M.J.) program caters to professionals without legal backgrounds who want to better understand legal matters affecting their work. Those pursuing careers with legal aspects will develop practical, career-enhancing legal knowledge applicable across various fields. With just four requirements—three core courses plus a significant research project—students can tailor their education. Our M.J. faculty collaborates with each learner to design individualized study paths. Students may also enroll in pertinent courses outside the law school. Working professionals can maintain work-life balance through part-time enrollment and flexible morning/evening class schedules while engaging with the legal community. The program offers hands-on learning opportunities, including externships with innovative local businesses and organizations.
Both organizations and individuals benefit from environmental regulations that are thoughtfully designed, effectively implemented, and legally compliant. The M.J. Environmental Regulation specialization equips professionals and graduates to meet these complex demands. Students gain from UW Law's renowned environmental law expertise and the university's broader strengths in environmental science and management.
