The Master of Forest Resources (MFR) in Forest Management is a program focused on coursework, blending technical expertise with policy and management training to prepare graduates for leadership roles across public, nonprofit, and private sectors. It fosters teamwork and leadership through an interdisciplinary approach, equipping students with the decision-making skills necessary to tackle complex challenges in forest resource management. This one-year program requires an undergraduate degree in forestry or a related discipline. Accredited by the Society of American Foresters (SAF), the curriculum also meets the educational criteria for the SAF's Candidate Certified Forester (CCF) designation.
Students with a variety of undergraduate majors are eligible to apply to the School of Environmental and Forest Sciences (SEFS) graduate programs. These include, but are not limited to: biology, botany, chemistry, economics, environmental engineering, environmental policy, environmental studies, horticulture, marketing, mathematics, psychology, and sociology.
GPA
A minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 for the most recent 90 quarter credits or 60 semester credits. Applicants admitted to Environmental and Forest Sciences typically have a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), Environmental and Forest Sciences requires a minimum score of 580 on the written test (TOEFL) or 92 on the internet-based test (TOEFL iBT).
