The Department of Forestry and Environmental Resources provides three advanced degree pathways for students and professionals in forestry-related disciplines: a Master of Forestry, a Master of Science in Forestry, and a Ph.D. in Forestry and Environmental Resources. Our programs encompass traditional forest resource studies along with specialized areas like natural resource economics, policy, hydrology, geospatial analytics, and natural resource management.

Qualification Requirements

Students with backgrounds in the biological, physical and social sciences can be admitted directly into our graduate program. For entering graduate students who do not have a forestry or natural resources background, it is possible to take any necessary background courses needed in science, mathematics and specialty areas either in advance or as part of the graduate student program.

Admission is contingent upon acceptance by an advisor.
Minimum undergraduate GPA is 3.0.

IELTS scores with an overall band score of at least 6.5. Minimum test scores for each section are listed below: Listening 6.5, Reading 6.5, Writing 6.5, Speaking 6.5

TOEFL with a total score of at least 80 on the Internet-based Test (iBT), and with minimum test scores for each section of: Listening 18 points, Reading 18 points, Writing 18 points.

Computer-based TOEFL scores must be 213 or higher (with at least 17 on three sections and no section score below 13). The paper-based test requires a score of 550 or higher (with scores of 50 on at least two of the three sections and no section score below 45).
