The University of Washington's Graduate Program in Classics provides Master of Arts degrees in Greek, Latin, or Classics, along with a Doctorate in Classics. Our graduate curriculum equips students with essential skills to deepen understanding of ancient Greek and Roman literature and culture while preparing them for academic careers across diverse educational settings. Through close collaboration with faculty advisors, students develop unique and creative research initiatives. Those enrolled in the graduate program often gain valuable experience as teaching assistants for Classical Studies and language courses.
Prospective graduate students should have as strong a preparation as possible in Latin and Greek, preferably a full undergraduate major. Although the M.A. may be attained with work in only one of the languages, students who plan to work toward the Ph.D. must be prepared to do graduate work in both Latin and Greek.

The Graduate School is temporarily accepting official test scores for both the Duolingo English Test and the TOEFL ITP Plus For China to assist international students with remote testing options. This policy is currently in effect through the autumn 2021 admission cycle (i.e., students enrolling in autumn 2021).
