Mathematics represents a broad and dynamic field centered around theoretical foundations. The UW Mathematics Department provides two bachelor's degree options: Mathematics and Applied/Computational Mathematical Sciences. Each year, the department teaches over 15,000 students from other disciplines through its undergraduate courses. Beyond fundamental research, mathematics professors and students work jointly on cross-disciplinary initiatives with various UW departments such as Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science and Engineering, Bioengineering, Genome Sciences, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Physics.
The minimum requirements to be considered for admission to any UW graduate program are a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the U.S. or its equivalent from a foreign institution, and an overall grade-point average of 3.0 (B) in your most recent two years of study.
