The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Acute Care (PNP-AC) specialization in our Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program equips you to care for children facing acute, critical, and chronic health conditions or injuries. These advanced practitioners deliver healthcare to pediatric patients (from infancy through young adulthood) and their families across hospital, emergency, and specialty care environments. The PNP-AC role emphasizes both restorative treatments and palliative care for young patients. With a nationwide shortage of pediatric healthcare providers, Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioners play a vital role in serving children of all ages. As a PNP-AC, you'll focus on patients requiring intensive nursing and medical attention, collaborating with patients, families, and healthcare teams to support disease management, prevention, and shared decision-making.
It is highly recommended that PNP-AC track applicants have recent direct patient care experience of at least one year as a registered nurse in acute, critical, emergency, or similar care setting
