The Earth System Science (ESS) program at the University of Washington Bothell enables students to explore the fundamental planetary mechanisms that shape habitable environments. Through classroom learning and practical fieldwork, students examine the dynamic interactions between Earth's atmosphere, oceans, and land surfaces, and their effects on both ecological systems and human wellbeing.

This interdisciplinary ESS degree is co-managed by the School of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences (IAS) and the School of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM), with faculty from both schools actively involved in instruction and research.
