The Mathematics Department provides four specialized tracks tailored for students pursuing pure mathematics. These pathways foster expertise in abstract reasoning, precise logic, analytical skills, clear communication, and scholarly writing. Mathematics students gain versatile abilities applicable across diverse fields, from software engineering to financial analysis to education.
The Teaching Preparation track equips students for secondary or middle school teaching positions. Most graduates from this program continue to earn a Master's in Education. This curriculum mandates focused classes that deliver comprehensive mathematical training. In addition to mastering mathematical concepts, students learn effective techniques for sharing mathematical knowledge (and their passion for the discipline) with others.
