The Master of Science (M.S.) program involves completing graduate-level coursework and undertaking supervised independent research. This degree mandates submitting a written thesis and presenting an oral defense, with research work equivalent to two standard academic courses.

To earn an M.S., students must complete at least 31 graded graduate credits. Computer Science courses must be numbered 6000 or higher to qualify, though up to 6 credits may come from approved non-CS 5000-level courses. All course selections require approval from both the academic advisor and the Master's Program Graduate Director (MGPD).

Graded credits refer to courses that assign letter grades (A, B, C), unlike audited (AU) or pass/fail (CR/NC) options.

Only grades of B or higher fulfill M.S. degree requirements. While lower passing grades contribute to GPA calculations, they don't satisfy degree completion criteria.
