The Master of Science in Clinical Research Program offered by the Department of Public Health Sciences is a multidisciplinary graduate degree tailored to address evolving demands in healthcare, specifically the growing requirement for skilled professionals with strong quantitative and analytical capabilities.
This MS-CR program offers specialized education for healthcare practitioners with substantial relevant experience, requiring physician mentorship and seeking enhanced quantitative and analytical expertise for patient-focused, translational, and conventional clinical research. Combining biostatistics, epidemiology, clinical trial methodology, medical informatics, and health services research, the curriculum provides clinical researchers with essential statistical and data management competencies for conducting translational and comparative effectiveness studies. Participants fulfill a 31-credit minimum requirement through core classes, specialized instruction, and a culminating research project supervised jointly by a PHS faculty member and the student's research advisor. Since its launch in 1997, the program has produced more than 150 graduates, predominantly physicians in training.
