The University of Virginia's Physics graduate program focuses on equipping Ph.D. candidates for research and academic careers. UVa's research spans multiple physics specialties: particle physics, nuclear physics, quantum information through atomic/molecular/optical physics, condensed matter physics (including soft matter and biophysics), gravitational studies, cosmology, and medical physics. Currently, the Physics graduate program hosts around 85 students, supported by 40 faculty members, 12 emeritus professors, over 20 postdoctoral researchers, along with visiting scholars and dedicated technical staff.
