The department provides Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy programs in Statistics, both available through collaboration with the Division of Biostatistics and Epidemiology within the Department of Public Health Sciences, with options tailored for Biostatistics students. The Ph.D. program accommodates diverse interests, preparing graduates for roles in research universities, college instruction, industrial or governmental statistical applications, or biostatistics. Alumni have successfully entered all these career paths.
Electives constitute a significant portion of both degree programs. With approval from the Director of Graduate Studies, students may select relevant courses from other departments including Biostatistics, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science. For instance, those focusing on Econometrics or Financial Economics can take specialized courses to develop interdisciplinary research capabilities.
