The Ph.D. program highlights both the wide scope of statistics and the latest advancements in specialized research domains. Candidates pursuing a doctorate in statistics must meet these specified criteria. Students who, after consulting with their graduate advisor, are found to lack sufficient mathematical or statistical preparation for the program will need to take selected courses from the MS STAT curriculum and/or additional mathematics classes.
Our curriculum offers adaptable specialization options, including medical and environmental studies. The Statistics Department faculty lead pioneering work in disease prevention and immunization research. Professors have secured multimillion-dollar funding for groundbreaking studies on cancer therapies and other critical health concerns, which directly informs their teaching and ongoing projects. Graduates leverage this expertise to secure positions at prestigious organizations such as St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the National Institutes of Health.
