Environmental Sciences is a multidisciplinary domain that examines how natural processes influence our planet's ecosystems. The Department of Environmental Sciences provides research opportunities and academic programs covering Ecology, Geoscience, Hydrology, and Atmospheric Science. By combining these Earth sciences and ecological studies under one department, students gain comprehensive insights into environmental systems and challenges. Faculty and student research, whether specialized or cross-disciplinary, tackles pressing scientific questions. The department offers both Bachelor of Science (BS) and Bachelor of Arts (BA) degrees, with adaptable curricula allowing students to customize their studies for diverse objectives, such as:
preparing for advanced scientific studies, including specialized or interdisciplinary fields,
building a strong scientific foundation for professional programs like law, urban planning, medicine, business, or environmental engineering,
establishing core knowledge as part of a well-rounded liberal arts education, and
qualifying for entry-level roles in sectors like environmental consulting, government agencies, or federal institutions.
