An accredited professional degree program recognized by the American Chemical Society (when certain criteria are met), designed for students passionate about biology and biochemistry through specialized lecture and lab courses. While many participants aim for medical or dental school, others continue their education in chemistry, biochemistry, environmental science, or similar fields. The Chemistry B.S. curriculum features advanced 400-level courses in general chemistry (CHEM 1410, 1420), organic chemistry (CHEM 2410, 2420), and physical chemistry (CHEM 3410, 3420), including accompanying lab work. Students with exceptional chemistry backgrounds, often through advanced placement, may opt for 800-level courses as equivalents. This Biochemistry-focused Chemistry B.S. program holds accreditation from the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB). Since Spring 2017, graduates have been eligible to take the ASBMB certification exam to obtain an ASBMB-certified degree.
