The Department of Chemistry collaborates with the Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology (BCMB) under the Division of Biological Sciences to provide a Bachelor of Science in Biological Chemistry. This interdisciplinary program leverages the strengths of both departments, enabling students to explore macromolecular chemistry and physics, enzyme and hormone mechanisms, cellular and molecular biology, biotechnology, and related disciplines. The curriculum equips graduates for diverse careers in biochemical and biophysical sciences. Participants are highly encouraged to engage in meaningful research with faculty mentors, potentially at facilities like the Institute for Biophysical Dynamics. An accelerated four-year dual-degree option allows qualified students to simultaneously earn a B.S. in Biological Chemistry and an M.S. in Chemistry, based on exceptional performance in placement or accreditation tests.
