To qualify for the M.S. degree, candidates must fulfill University standards, which include completing at least 30 semester credit hours (SCH) of graduate-level courses (numbered 5000 or higher) and submitting a thesis. A minimum of 20 SCH must come from coursework, while at least 6 SCH must be dedicated to Thesis Research (ATMOS 6970). Note that Faculty Consultation (ATMOS 6980) cannot be applied toward thesis hours or degree requirements. All M.S. degree requirements must be fulfilled within four consecutive years, with all coursework completed at the University of Utah.

The combined GPA of these courses should exceed 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.]
