At our core, humans are social creatures: we naturally seek belonging and meaningful bonds with others while dreading isolation and separation. These interpersonal connections play a pivotal role in shaping our most significant life moments, whether joyful or painful. The University of Utah brings together a varied team of scholars united by their focus on intimate relationships and social interactions. A key aspect of our approach is viewing these topics not as separate fields, but as deeply interconnected. Our studies frequently explore how these elements intersect within health outcomes, cognitive processes, learning environments, and public policy.
