Outstanding research accomplishments - attained by addressing complex real-world challenges with potential for substantial long-term influence across computer science and interdisciplinary computing fields. Outstanding educational contributions - equipping the nation with computer scientists possessing fundamental knowledge to adapt to rapidly evolving technologies while cultivating future leaders for industry, academia, and government. Outstanding collaboration with industry, government, educational institutions, and communities to advance computing and meet organizational needs. About 100 students join the graduate program each year, evenly distributed between M.S. and PhD candidates. Our selective admissions process maintains high standards, creating competitive selection for limited program openings. Admissions decisions consider both academic qualifications and research potential.
The HCC track aims to educate students in developing digital solutions that align with and enhance human capabilities, objectives, and social contexts. Through interdisciplinary training spanning
computer science, behavioral sciences, social sciences, and design, students will master user-centered research approaches to conduct innovative, rigorous studies.
