Featuring a faculty of working performers who deliver exceptional vocal instruction, diverse performance chances, and elite choral group experiences, graduates emerge thoroughly equipped for careers in professional performance or education. The BMUS in Vocal Performance spans four years with 129 credit hours, covering core requirements (private instruction, music theory, piano, conducting, music history, major ensembles, opera studies, vocal training, and supplementary music classes) alongside the University of Utah's General Education and Bachelor's Degree prerequisites. A culminating senior recital is mandatory.
The DMA program lasts three years with 59 credit hours, incorporating private study, major ensembles, music history and literature, advanced theory, teaching methods, performance techniques, and interdisciplinary coursework. Candidates must complete a written dissertation, present four recitals, and demonstrate foreign language competency.
