Metallurgical engineering focuses on researching, developing, designing, applying, and enhancing methods that convert raw minerals and metals into practical products enhancing daily life. This field encompasses working with materials such as metals and alloys to mine, purify, and reuse metallic elements. The absence of metallurgical engineering would leave us without essential parts for constructing structures, airplanes, railways, vessels, or even bicycles. The Metallurgical Engineering program, certified by ABET's Engineering Accreditation Commission, offers instruction spanning metallurgy's three primary disciplines: ore processing, chemical metallurgy, and physical metallurgy.
