The Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) Minor provides students with knowledge about family dynamics and personal growth across the lifespan. This discipline covers fundamental concepts of human growth, developmental milestones at different life phases, and how family interactions shape this progression.
Students can select specialized courses in HDFS areas - including family challenges, domestic abuse, child-rearing, community wellness, romantic relationships, sexual health, marital relationships, separation and blended families, child psychology, and more.
Professional Pathways
Beyond classroom learning, the program offers chances to engage in academic research, community involvement, practical internships, conflict resolution training, and real-world applications to enhance individual and family wellbeing.
When combined with a relevant major, HDFS minor graduates can enter diverse professions including teaching, social services, medical fields, mental health support, community advocacy, childhood development programs, and related areas.
