The Human Development and Family Science program at UGA offers students a comprehensive study of people and family dynamics throughout all life stages. This major explores human growth from before birth through old age, emphasizing how individuals relate to their families, communities, and society. Learners can tailor their education to work in child and family healthcare environments. By selecting specialized courses and completing internships, students build foundations for advanced studies or diverse careers focused on family support and life enhancement. This program teaches students to implement developmental theories and research in real-world applications and policy decisions. Graduates pursue careers in social services, family counseling, healthcare, public policy, legal fields, and more - applying their expertise to help families manage health challenges or influence legislation. Our graduates become therapists assisting families with long-term illnesses or policy advocates working in government.
