Throughout the program, participants will fulfill mathematics core requirements while taking specialized courses designed for future secondary math educators. Alongside mathematics classes, students will enroll in education courses and apply to the Urban Institute for Teacher Education (UITE) Secondary Teacher licensure program in their third year.

The program concludes with an intensive student teaching placement during the final year. Participants work full-time in secondary classrooms, gaining practical experience under the guidance of certified educators.

Through collaboration with public schools, the University of Utah's secondary teacher preparation program builds the knowledge and skills needed to educate diverse student populations across urban and rural settings, encompassing various ages, abilities, and cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
