The Engineering Physics Bachelor of Science program holds accreditation from ABET's Engineering Accreditation Commission. The physics and engineering physics department provides curricula for Bachelor of Science (B.S.) and Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degrees in physics, along with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics (B.S.E.P.). Each program establishes a fundamental core knowledge in physics and concludes with a two-semester senior thesis or research design project. These courses are structured to give students flexibility during their junior and senior years to concentrate on particular physics specializations. The physics B.S. degree offers a comprehensive technical education that works well for pre-professional students (medical, legal, etc.) and education majors. Physics and engineering physics majors interested in foreign languages can pursue dual degrees through the International Engineering/Science and Language Program.
The engineering physics program aims to equip students with physics and engineering education that prepares them for technical careers in industry, advanced education, and continuous learning. In line with this mission, the program's educational objectives are to equip graduates with:
The foundation needed to successfully pursue graduate studies in various engineering fields and physics,
The capabilities to serve as effective engineering professionals in interdisciplinary areas combining science and engineering, and
An understanding of the value of ongoing professional self-improvement.
