The University of Tulsa's School of Music holds accreditation from the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM). NASM recognizes several degree programs including the Bachelor of Arts in Music, Bachelor of Music Education, Bachelor of Music in Performance, and Bachelor of Music in Composition.
Music faculty provide instruction for both the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in music and the Bachelor of Music Education (B.M.E.) with specializations in instrumental or vocal music.

Graduates of the music program will achieve the following outcomes:
Master technical abilities for artistic expression in their primary performance discipline. This includes studying repertoire, sight-reading proficiency, leadership through rehearsal and conducting techniques, keyboard skills, collaborative abilities, and diverse ensemble participation. Grasp compositional techniques, conceptualize musical structures, and articulate informed musical evaluations. Develop skills in recognizing and manipulating rhythm, melody, and harmony. (Musicianship Skills, Theory, Ear Training and Analysis)
Produce and present creative musical works, including jazz-focused courses and ensembles emphasizing harmonization techniques. (Composition/Improvisation)
Gain familiarity with musical literature across historical periods from Ancient Greece to modern times, incorporating global music traditions. (History and Repertory)
Integrate musical knowledge with other academic skills through culminating experiences like junior/senior recitals and teaching practicums. (Synthesis)
