The Master of Arts in Counselor Education with a focus on School Counseling equips students for roles as school counselors in both public and private educational settings. These professionals support student development by addressing academic, career, personal, and social concerns through individual and group sessions, assessments, guidance services, and collaboration with parents, educators, and specialists. School counselors serve across all grade levels from elementary through high school. Notably, Ohio and Michigan have eliminated the prerequisite of teaching certification or classroom experience for school counseling licensure. The program's faculty are dedicated to preparing counselors who can effectively guide young people through modern educational and societal challenges. This School Counseling specialization holds full accreditation from the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs.
