The Master of Science in School Counseling (60 credit hours) equips students to work as counselors in PK-12 educational environments. Graduates will fulfill all academic prerequisites for both Texas Education Agency school counselor certification and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) credentials in Texas. Those pursuing school counseling certification should coordinate with the program advisor and certification office to verify current state requirements before completing their degree. All counseling programs at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi hold accreditation from the Council for Accreditation of Counseling & Related Educational Programs. Project FLICS develops skilled specialists in special education with dual certification in educational diagnostics and school counseling through a collaborative master's program featuring integrated coursework, team projects, and hands-on field training, molding graduates into authorities and innovators in their fields (including special education instructors, educational diagnosticians, and school counselors).
This curriculum trains students for counseling roles in PK-12 schools. After finishing the program, graduates will satisfy all necessary academic standards for Texas school counselor certification and LPC licensure.
