The Master of Science in Kinesiology program prepares students for advanced careers in physical activity, fitness, strength training, health promotion, rehabilitation, sports medicine, athletic training, coaching, and recreation, or for further academic pursuits in PhD or professional doctoral programs.
Participants can customize their studies by choosing among four specializations: Exercise Physiology, Motor Behavior, Sport and Exercise Psychology, and Strength and Human Performance. Each specialization offers both thesis (30 credit hours) and non-thesis (36 credit hours) completion options.
UTSA's MS in Kinesiology stands as the sole R1-ranked graduate program in this field across south Texas. As a Hispanic Serving Institution with the Excelencia Seal, UTSA is exceptionally equipped to address the educational requirements of its diverse student population and local community. These unique attributes establish UTSA's program as a top choice for regional students pursuing advanced kinesiology studies.
The Motor Behavior specialization equips students with knowledge in motor control, learning processes, developmental motor patterns, and biomechanics, with practical applications in athletic training and rehabilitation professions.
