Earning a master's in social work with a Health & Wellness concentration equips you for practice across diverse settings, from conventional medical facilities to integrative wellness environments. This includes hospitals, FQHCs, primary care practices, dialysis units, hospice programs, long-term care facilities, rehab centers, and nature-based therapeutic programs - all ideal workplaces for wellness-focused social workers.
The program examines health through a social justice lens, addressing healthcare disparities and social health determinants while training practitioners to influence well-being at individual, community, and systemic levels. Students develop culturally competent skills, theoretical knowledge, and evidence-based methods for delivering whole-person care across the lifespan in both general and specialized healthcare settings. The curriculum emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration and innovative approaches to conceptualizing health, illness, and wellness.
Denver Campus offers an Advanced-Standing MSW track for graduates with CSWE-accredited BSW degrees (those without should consider the standard MSW program). Full-time students complete coursework on weekdays, while part-time options include evening and weekend classes. While field placements typically require weekday availability, current employment may fulfill internship requirements for working professionals.
