UTSA's Politics and Law program immerses students in key areas including constitutional and administrative law, legal research techniques, political philosophy, and legislative systems. This curriculum equips learners with critical thinking skills and foundational knowledge to pursue legal education or careers in government sectors, regulatory bodies, law enforcement, intelligence services, legal practices, judicial systems, and political organizations.
At UTSA, student achievement is paramount. Our hands-on learning approach bridges academic theory with practical application. As a Liberal & Fine Arts (COLFA) scholar, you'll examine, participate in, and evaluate real-world scenarios to prepare for an international career landscape. The COLFA Student Success Center serves as your hub for academic support, career guidance, and professional growth, offering tutoring services, internship placements, networking events, and skill-building workshops.
Through COLFA's Signature Experience initiative, which emphasizes practical application of classroom knowledge, the Department recommends enrollment in experiential courses like Internships, Independent Studies, Study Abroad programs, and Research Practicums. Students can earn 3-6 credit hours toward their degree through supervised internship placements that combine academic concepts with professional practice. The Political Science and Geography Department's internship coordinator manages placements while faculty members provide oversight and evaluation. Additional details are available through the internship coordinator's office.
