Students can complement their studies with minors in French, German, Russian, Spanish, Comparative Literature, East Asian Studies, Foreign Languages (including Chinese, Italian, Japanese, Korean), and Linguistics. The department strongly recommends international study experiences and also provides majors in Linguistics in the Local and Global Community, plus Media Studies courses that apply humanities scholarship to contemporary communication contexts.
