This comprehensive curriculum transforms your writing, editing, research, and presentation abilities into valuable professional assets. Graduates gain access to thriving fields including telecommunications, advertising, public relations, marketing, and corporate communications.
UTSA prioritizes student achievement through hands-on learning that bridges academic theory with practical application. As a Liberal & Fine Arts (COLFA) student, you'll actively participate in experiences that prepare you for today's interconnected world. The COLFA Student Success Center provides holistic support for academic growth, career preparation, and personal development, offering services like tutoring, internship placement, industry networking, and professional skill-building. Students can pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Communication, a Communication minor, or a specialized B.A. in Digital Media Influence, with optional honors recognition. The Communication major features three focused tracks: Public Relations, Digital Communication, or Health Communication.
The Health Communication specialization explores health-related messaging across individual, organizational, and societal levels. The curriculum covers critical areas from clinical communication to media's role in public health, blending theory with practical applications. This concentration serves students pursuing healthcare careers, advanced health communication studies, or roles in governmental and international health organizations.
