The Bachelor's in Music (with EC-12 Teacher Certification) equips students to become Music Educators, training future generations in both musical performance and theoretical knowledge. These educators direct diverse performance groups including marching bands, orchestras, and choirs. Graduates may also pursue alternative music-related professions such as becoming Music Researchers, Historical Music Specialists, Cultural Music Scholars, among others. The curriculum meets all Texas state standards for teacher licensure (TExES).
UTRGV holds authorization from the State Board of Educator Certification to endorse qualified graduates of this program for teaching credentials.
Multiple specialization tracks are available for students.
The National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) has granted accreditation to UTRGV's School of Music.
