UTEP's Master of Science in Economics with Data Analytics program merges economic principles with real-world data science applications. Participants receive practical instruction in handling extensive datasets and using statistical tools like STATA, R, and Python. Graduates will develop expertise to pursue careers bridging economics and data science with organizations such as El Paso Electric, Fort Bliss, and the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. The Economics and Finance Department provides an MS in Economics with options to specialize in fields like Regulation, International Economics, Applied Business Economics, or Border Economics. Students may also complement their studies with interdisciplinary work in Border Studies, Finance, or Computer Information. All degree plans require approval from both the Graduate Advisor and Graduate School.
The program offers both thesis and non-thesis tracks. Thesis candidates complete 24 course hours plus a six-credit thesis, while the non-thesis option involves 36 hours of coursework.
