Qualification Requirements

The criteria for admission in to the graduate certificate program will be similar to that of the MS program. The students will be required to have BS in physics or in a related field such as chemistry, mathematics, engineering, who have completed the PHYS 3351, PHYS 4341, PHYS 4355 or equivalents. The admission to graduate school and a minimum GPA of 3.0 is required. If you did not attend high school in the United States and your most recent institution of learning was not located in an English-speaking country, UTEP requires you to provide evidence of English-language proficiency. Minimum score 550 on the paper-based (pBT) TOEFL. Some programs require 600 or better. Minimum score of 79 on the internet-based test (iBT), and minimum of 6.5 on IELTS.
