The Bachelor of Science in Geology is a professional degree program that equips graduates for various career paths in geology, spanning the mining, energy, environmental sectors, and government roles. Many students continue their education at prestigious graduate programs, such as UTEP. Transfer students benefit from an accelerated course schedule designed to facilitate on-time graduation. This BS program delivers a solid foundation in geological principles, complemented by essential coursework in chemistry, physics, and mathematics. The curriculum culminates in two intensive three-week field courses, where students tackle real-world challenges and create professional-grade reports. Faculty-led research opportunities are available, with students earning academic credit through research or internships. Elective options range from GIS to biogeochemistry, enabling specialization. Qualification Requirements

Official High School or College transcripts must be sent directly from the schools attended in the U.S. or abroad. Foreign transcripts in a language other than English must be translated before being submitted to the university. Copies or faxes are considered unofficial and will not satisfy this admission requirement.
All international students must submit entrance exam scores. Take one of the following exams and request your scores to be sent directly to UTEP from the testing center:
SAT: minimum score of 1070 (reading + math sections) with a score of 480 on the reading section
ACT: minimum composite score of 23 with a score of 19 on the English section
TOEFL: minimum score of 500 on UTEP's institutional paper based exam or
a minimum score of 61 on the Internet Based TOEFL (IBT)
UTEP does not accept IELTS scores for admission.
