Students passionate about exploring diverse cultures will gain valuable experience through hands-on research in the U.S.-Mexico border area while pursuing an anthropology degree. The program offers specialized certificates in Applied Cultural Anthropology and Applied Cultural Heritage Management. What makes UTEP's Anthropology program unique is its emphasis on the U.S.-Mexico borderlands, environmental justice, migration studies, and medical sociology/anthropology. The Department of Sociology and Anthropology extends a warm welcome. Our faculty is dedicated to exceptional teaching and research addressing social and cultural dynamics in the U.S.-Mexico border region and beyond, both historically and currently. Qualification Requirements

Official High School or College transcripts must be sent directly from the schools attended in the U.S. or abroad. Foreign transcripts in a language other than English must be translated before being submitted to the university. Copies or faxes are considered unofficial and will not satisfy this admission requirement.
All international students must submit entrance exam scores. Take one of the following exams and request your scores to be sent directly to UTEP from the testing center:
SAT: minimum score of 1070 (reading + math sections) with a score of 480 on the reading section
ACT: minimum composite score of 23 with a score of 19 on the English section
TOEFL: minimum score of 500 on UTEP's institutional paper based exam or
a minimum score of 61 on the Internet Based TOEFL (IBT)
UTEP does not accept IELTS scores for admission.
