The program offers specialized certificates in Applied Cultural Anthropology and Applied Cultural Heritage Management. What makes UTEP's Anthropology program unique is its emphasis on the U.S.-Mexico borderlands, environmental justice, migration studies, and medical sociology/anthropology. The Department of Sociology and Anthropology extends a warm welcome. Our faculty is dedicated to exceptional teaching and research addressing social and cultural dynamics in the U.S.-Mexico border region and beyond, both historically and currently. We take pride in our students' achievements and strive to apply social science knowledge to benefit the El Paso-Ciudad Ju√°rez community.
