The Master of Science in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology is a cross-disciplinary graduate program at The University of Texas at Dallas, collaboratively administered by the Departments of Mathematical Sciences and Biological Sciences. This program blends biological sciences, computer science, mathematics, and statistics coursework while integrating faculty-led research opportunities, addressing the increasing need for professionals with multidisciplinary skills.
Led by distinguished faculty from the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, the Bioinformatics and Computational Biology program provides two specialized pathways tailored to students' academic preparation: 1) those with broad science and engineering foundations or 2) those with concentrated biological sciences training.
Each pathway includes optional focus areas enabling students to develop deeper knowledge in one of three concentrations - Computer Science, Statistics, or Biology - while providing research collaboration opportunities with expert faculty. These structured options permit students to personalize their graduate education according to their academic foundations, research interests, and professional goals.
