The telecommunications engineering PhD program delivers rigorous training in design, programming, theoretical foundations, and practical applications. The curriculum spans numerous telecommunications engineering specialties, such as: resilient computing systems, parallel computing architectures, digital signal analysis, data transmission methods, modulation techniques, electromagnetic wave behavior, optical fiber technologies, laser applications, mobile communication systems, IP mobility solutions, wireless multimedia delivery, dense wavelength division multiplexing, quality-of-service protocols, network architecture planning, telecom software development, system performance evaluation, self-configuring wireless networks, cybersecurity measures, and high-bandwidth networking solutions.
Campus resources include an extensive computing network featuring PC clusters, Unix-based workstations, and specialized research computers across departmental labs. Degree requirements: A master's degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a closely associated discipline from an institution of higher education in the U.S. or from an acceptable foreign university. Consideration will be given to highly qualified students wishing to pursue the doctorate without satisfying all of the requirements for a master's degree.
GPA: A grade point average (GPA) in graduate coursework of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 point scale.
