The Doctor of Audiology program at the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences ranks among the country's top programs, currently holding the #4 spot in U.S. News & World Report's rankings. This ACAE and CAA-accredited AuD program emphasizes clinical training for identifying, diagnosing, and treating hearing conditions, along with hearing loss rehabilitation. Admission is highly selective, with fewer than 10% of applicants accepted, yet graduates achieve a perfect pass rate on the national PRAXIS certification exam.
This four-year program delivers extensive professional training in audiology through a combination of clinical services, community engagement, and research initiatives. Students gain thorough experience with clinical techniques and their scientific underpinnings throughout the audiology practice spectrum. The first three years include rotations at the Callier Center and various DFW Metroplex healthcare facilities, followed by a year-long externship in the final year. These clinical experiences cover all aspects of audiology practice, serving diverse populations across all age groups. The program also offers numerous local and international outreach opportunities.
The minimum requirement for admission to any doctoral program is an appropriate earned UT Dallas master's degree or its equivalent, with an average of at least B+. Applicants currently enrolled in post baccalaureate study may be admitted on the condition that official documentation confirming the conferral of their master's degree is presented before enrollment at UT Dallas is permitted.
Some departments admit directly to the doctoral program from a bachelor's degree for highly qualified candidates.
