The Law School and School of Social Work provide a combined degree program that awards participants both a Juris Doctor (JD) and Master of Science in Social Work (MSSW). This integrated curriculum enables students to merge the theoretical foundations, knowledge domains, and practical methodologies of both disciplines, creating a comprehensive approach that better prepares them for navigating modern legal and social service challenges. Typically requiring five years to complete separately, this dual degree can be obtained in just four academic years. Students typically follow this path: completing one school's first-year curriculum in year one, the other school's foundational courses in year two, then focusing on specialized coursework and electives during years three and four. Both degrees are conferred simultaneously upon fulfilling all program requirements.
Students must have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in the United States or a comparable degree from a foreign academic institution. A grade point average of at least 3.00 in upper-division (junior- and senior-level) coursework and in any graduate work already completed.
The minimum scores considered acceptable for admission by the Graduate School are:
TOEFL: 79 on the Internet-based test (iBT)
IELTS: An overall band of 6.5 on the Academic Examination
