The Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering's graduate program has a global reputation for shaping students into pioneering leaders across engineering practice, research, and academia. We encourage ambitious, high-achieving students to apply for our M.S.E. and Ph.D. programs.
Today's intricate challenges at the intersection of urban development, water resources, and energy systems require engineers with both specialized expertise and broad perspectives. CAEE equips students with the knowledge foundation and collaborative skills necessary to pioneer tomorrow's sustainable technologies and innovative solutions. Our approach combines rigorous fundamental research with practical applications through creative teaching methods.
Graduate students can engage with numerous research centers, immersing themselves in intellectually vibrant communities while pursuing their academic passions. Featuring cutting-edge facilities, our program prepares engineers to lead the profession across diverse sectors including industry, academia, and public service.
While an engineering undergraduate degree is preferred, we may admit outstanding candidates from other disciplines who demonstrate exceptional potential. These students will need to complete prerequisite undergraduate courses tailored to their academic background before commencing graduate studies.
Our department provides Master of Science in Engineering degrees in both Civil Engineering and Environmental/Water Resources Engineering, while the Ph.D. program focuses exclusively on Civil Engineering. Prospective Architectural Engineering graduate students should apply through the Civil Engineering program.
The Construction Engineering and Project Management (CEPM) program uniquely blends engineering technical training with business management principles, producing graduates capable of transforming the capital projects industry through innovative leadership.
