When fully utilized, our flexible curriculum adapts to each student's focus while leveraging departmental resources and UT Austin's academic strengths. The program offers extensive course selections, providing increasing studio time as MFA projects grow more complex and specialized. Students cultivate their artistic identity, honing both visual creation skills and the intellectual framework to engage with peers' work.
Transmedia represents an interdisciplinary exploration of time-based art through experimental techniques in video, performance, digital, and interactive media. Challenging traditional categorization, it embodies hybrid methodologies and critical investigation rooted in aesthetics, art theory, history, and current cultural dialogues. Students in this area develop practices that manifest in studio work, public spaces, and unconventional settings through cross-disciplinary engagement.
