Working alongside the Center for Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies, students have the opportunity to enroll in a dual degree program that awards both an MPAff and a Master of Arts in Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies. This integrated curriculum merges in-depth policy analysis with interdisciplinary regional studies and language training, addressing growing demand in government and business sectors for professionals well-versed in the cultural, economic, geographic, historical, and political aspects of the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe.
Designed for efficiency, the program allows students to obtain both graduate degrees concurrently within about two and a half academic years. Certain participants, especially those needing additional language preparation, might require an extra semester or summer term to fulfill all program requirements. Both degrees are conferred upon successful completion of all coursework in each discipline.
Students must have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in the United States or a comparable degree from a foreign academic institution. A grade point average of at least 3.00 in upper-division (junior- and senior-level) coursework and in any graduate work already completed.
The minimum scores considered acceptable for admission by the Graduate School are:
TOEFL: 79 on the Internet-based test (iBT)
IELTS: An overall band of 6.5 on the Academic Examination
