The Radio-Television-Film graduate program focuses on analytical and contextual examination of media content, industries, and cultural impacts. Our internationally renowned faculty cover diverse media studies specialties, equipping students for professional opportunities in higher education, non-profit organizations, and corporate environments.
The Media Studies M.A. is structured as a two-year academic program where students develop theoretically grounded research projects. Degree completion offers two pathways: a thesis (30 credit hours) or a master's report (33 credit hours). The curriculum mandates six credit hours in an external minor field outside Radio-TV-Film, which can be pursued within the College of Communication or other university departments. Students select courses in collaboration with their Graduate Advisor.
Students must have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in the United States or a comparable degree from a foreign academic institution. A grade point average of at least 3.00 in upper-division (junior- and senior-level) coursework and in any graduate work already completed.
The minimum scores considered acceptable for admission by the Graduate School are:
TOEFL: 79 on the Internet-based test (iBT)
IELTS: An overall band of 6.5 on the Academic Examination
Application deadline: December 01 for fall
