In collaboration with the School of Information, we provide a dual-degree program enabling students to earn both a Master of Science in Information Studies and a Master of Arts in Middle Eastern Studies within three academic years (degree code: 668650). This program aims to develop professionals with specialized knowledge in library and information science, coupled with cultural understanding of Middle Eastern and North African societies and proficiency in regional languages. Alongside the MA in Middle Eastern Studies, the Center for Middle Eastern Studies provides seven combined degree options, permitting graduate students to obtain an MA in Middle Eastern Studies alongside another professional degree from UT. Students pursuing dual degrees generally complete an additional year at CMES (or two extra years for the Law dual degree). The MA requirements for dual-degree candidates mirror those for standard MA students.

The Graduate School requires a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a four-point scale for admitted graduate students. The graduate admission GPA is calculated based on upper-division and graduate coursework only. The committee will be looking for at least a 3.50 GPA (or approximate international equivalent) from your undergraduate and, if applicable, master's degree. Those with a GPA below the 3.50 minimum may still be considered for admission if all other application materials are compelling.
The Graduate School requires applicants to have earned a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in the United States or a comparable degree from a foreign academic institution.
