The Master of Advanced Architectural Design is a post-professional, design-focused program tailored for graduates holding an accredited B. Arch degree. It provides resources for individual and career development within specialized fields, guided by faculty mentors. Concentration options encompass Sustainable Design, Community and Environmental Equity Design, Digital Technology, Latin American Architecture, Building Technology, Cultural Heritage Documentation and Research, along with the Political, Social, and Cultural Histories of Architecture. Recognized as a STEM discipline by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, this degree creates expanded career pathways for international students.
Participants can leverage the diverse academic resources and state-of-the-art facilities available at a major institution like UT Austin. Prospective students are encouraged to specify their desired faculty mentor and focus area in their Statement of Interest.
Students must have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in the United States or a comparable degree from a foreign academic institution. A grade point average of at least 3.00 in upper-division (junior- and senior-level) coursework and in any graduate work already completed.
The minimum scores considered acceptable for admission by the Graduate School are:
TOEFL: 79 on the Internet-based test (iBT)
IELTS: An overall band of 6.5 on the Academic Examination
