The Engineering Mechanics (EM) graduate program at The University of Texas at Austin trains Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy candidates for careers in both academic and industrial settings. Alumni gain the skills to address technical challenges across diverse sectors such as aerospace, automotive, petroleum, manufacturing, and computer engineering. Our faculty members bring extensive knowledge in experimental, theoretical, and computational mechanics.
This discipline focuses on investigating theoretical foundations and practical applications of numerical simulations, covering: applied mathematics (functional analysis, partial differential equations, dynamical systems), numerical methods (error analysis, adaptive techniques, stochastic approaches), computing (high-performance algorithms, parallel processing), software development (Fortran 90, C++ programming, data organization), data analytics, AI and machine learning, visualization and geometric modeling, as well as mathematical representations of multiscale, multiphysics phenomena.
