The University of Texas at Austin School of Architecture's doctoral programs equip students who already possess a relevant master's degree with an intensive curriculum aimed at developing their research capabilities and preparing them for academic careers.
Students can pursue a Ph.D. in Architecture with focus areas such as architectural and landscape history, preservation studies, and sustainable design. Alternatively, the Ph.D. in Community and Regional Planning offers specializations across diverse planning domains, including global development strategies, economic revitalization, environmental resource management, urban housing solutions, land utilization, transportation systems, and heritage conservation.
Students who enter the doctoral degree program must hold a master's degree or the equivalent in a discipline relevant to their area of concentration and must demonstrate the ability to excel in doctoral work.
The minimum scores considered acceptable for admission by the Graduate School are:
TOEFL: 79 on the Internet-based test (iBT)
IELTS: An overall band of 6.5 on the Academic Examination
